Lomboz Virtual Distros: R-3.3
November 27, 2007

The Lomboz 3.3 distro variations are being made available as Cloudsmith virtual distros. This makes it much easier for us to publish and maintain multiple distros, particularly when we want to bundle pre-requisites and dependencies from other open source projects. Consequently, we are able to offer separate Lomboz distro packagings for common development tracks, such as portal development or BPEL. And we are able to include all the external pre-reqs (Apache Struts, eXo portal, Apache Tomcat, etc.) in the distro, saving you the trouble of retrieving and assembling all the packages yourself.

To learn more about what is in Lomboz, see the Release Notes.

We use the free service from Cloudsmith to deliver our virtual distros, and you can learn more about virtual distros at www.cloudsmith.com

These downloads are provided under the Lomboz Software User Agreement.

How virtual distros work
When you "materialize" a virtual distro, the different packages that make up the distro are downloaded and assembled directly from their original sources, rather than through an intermediate project. This means that certain elements of the Lomboz 3.3. distro variations (Lomboz core, for example) come directly from our download infrastructure, while others (Apache components, for example) are retrieved from other open source projects.
